Welcome to the First Issue of Sunrise Connection!

When my husband, Paul, and I founded Sunrise Senior Living in 1981, our goal was to champion quality of life for all seniors. We recognized that seniors and their families were looking for a new approach to senior living--a resident-centered approach that enables seniors to live life on their own terms, with dignity and with as much independence as possible.

We were young, and we were idealistic--and I am happy to share with you that our idealism and passion have only grown over the years. We have witnessed firsthand what a difference this approach can make to seniors and to those who care for them. Sunrise has been our life's work, and it has been more satisfying than I ever could have imagined.

In the course of almost 25 years, we have also learned a great deal--about the changing needs and preferences of seniors as they age, about the responsibilities of caregiving, and about the kind of issues that are important to them.

Our goal in creating our e-newsletter, Sunrise Connection, is to share this knowledge with people who care for and about seniors. This includes family members, friends, and professionals. We want to create a bimonthly newsletter that contains specific, helpful information that you can use to enhance the well-being of seniors in your life and to provide pertinent resources to help you make wise decisions about their care.

We hope you will view Sunrise Connection as an invitation to a conversation. We encourage you to call or visit one of our communities today to talk about the issues that matter for seniors and their families.
